SUMMARY:Craft Social: Hydrodipping for Beginners with Anther
DESCRIPTION:This event will be half social chats with a bunch of like-minded queer people and half fun\, educational and interactive workshop. It’s part of a series of queer socials happening at the Victorian Pride Centre for Pride Month in June. \nHydrodipping is a design technique done by using water to float paint so it can transfer onto a 3D object as you dip it in. \nPopularly done on anything between car parts\, water bottles and device cases using spray paint. \n  \nWhat will we cover?\nIn this class we’ll be: \n\nLearning how to thicken water to make acrylic paint float\nPriming\, pre-painting and preparing objects for hydrodipping\nMarbling paint to create a design that floats on the water\nDipping the object into the paint film\, transferring the design onto your object\n\nYou may bring an object that fits within the dimensions of an A4 paper\, and can be immersed in the water. \n(If something has a lid\, please bring it as it will make it easier to dip after protecting.) \nEg: water bottle\, airpod case\, small plant pot\, phone or gaming console hardcase\, jar\, Christmas baubles\, etc. \nOtherwise there will be a selection of various objects to use and bring home. \n  \nAccessibility\n\nWheelchair Accessible Venue\nGender Neutral Bathrooms\nFree Tickets to First Nation Attendees\n\n  \nWho will be Teaching?\n \nAcanthus (Anther) Oria Low [they/them] is a collector of hobbies and a small-space suburban keeper of many species of unconventional animals\, and chronic pain fighter. They are a foster carer for the Rabbit Sanctuary and are passionate about sharing environmentally friendly\, low or no cost enrichment for animals.\nAnther has dabbled in editorial makeup\, cosplay\, digital design\, dungeons and dragons\, and so so many crafts.

SUMMARY:Pride Gallery Exhibition Opening - Tableaux by Gerard O'Connor
DESCRIPTION:You and a guest are warmly invited to the Pride Gallery launch of our Pride Month Exhibition\, Tableaux by Gerard O’Connor \n\n\nThe Pride Gallery\, Victorian Pride Centre\n79/81 Fitzroy Street\, St Kilda\nPlease RSVP here \nTableaux by Gerard O’Connor\nThese images present cinematic\, camp tableaux that reimagine and foreground LGBTIQ+ figures who have long been overlooked in mainstream history. From men dancing the tango\, to Victorian women archers\, drag performers of the 1940s\, star singers in Buenos Aires\, and queer narratives woven through goldfields life in Caulfield’s National Trust house ‘La Bassa\,’ these works inhabit and reclaim historical spaces. Trans bridesmaids at 1980s wedding parties further underline the continuity of queer presence across time. \nThis extraordinary photographic exhibition reflects the powerful collaboration between two artistic queer practitioners and soul mates Gerard O’Connor and Marc Wasiak which commenced in the mid-1990s. O’Connor a film maker/photographer and Wasiak a set designer/prop-maker are both acclaimed in their fields and together they constructed complex and large-scale images exploring the peculiarities of human behaviour and our changing social mores \nWith Pride\, \nVPC
