First worn in 1991 by the Visual AIDS Group in New York\, the following year the uniquely Victorian Red Ribbon was created by Brent Lacey. While it was cheaper to produce\, the unique shape offered another more significant point of difference – the inverted ‘V’ design is to allow the ribbons to be turned upside down a create a ‘V’ for ‘Victory’ the day a cure for HIV is discovered. \nNo need to RSVP\, this event is FREE.

DESCRIPTION:FAN and our Eastern Diversity Group is excited to announce that as part of our Wear It Purple outreach\, we are facilitating a clothing swap for LGBTIQA+ Young People!\nJoin us to celebrate Wear-It-Purple day\, If you have any gently used clothes or other accessories bring them to swap. Otherwise\, come along and pick out more for your wardrobe! \nThings to know:\n• Young people do not have to bring clothes to participate in the event – we have received donations to ensure those that don’t have anything to swap can still participate!\n• We will have mini games and Rainbow Face Paint set up as well 😃\n• Photos will not be taken without the persons consent – we will have a participation sheet outlining the Privacy and Confidentiality policy and the young people will have the opportunity to decline. \nWear It Purple Day Theme this year is “Your Passion\, Your Pride”\, this event aims to provide the young people with an opportunity to access clothes\, connect with community in hope to empower and affirm LGBTIQA+ Young Peoples identities. DESCRIPTION:What does it mean to queer consent in the pursuit of pleasure? Join a bi+ filmmaker\, researcher\, and psychologist as we explore pleasure and sexual consent in the areas of advocacy\, research\, and our personal lives. \nChair\nDr Duc Dau (Bi+ Community Perth) \nPanellists\ndelsi (they/she) is a proud queer femme with over a decade of experience in the LGBTQIA+ sector\, encompassing queer activism\, event production\, filmmaking\, teaching\, community engagement\, and workshop development and delivery. They own the longstanding queer party space Unicorns and produced the award-winning documentary Femme. delsi holds the title of Mx Melbourne Rubber and is currently leading an innovative project for Transgender Victoria\, developing a groundbreaking WorkSafe resource to combat high rates of gendered violence against LGBTQIA+ people in the workplace. \nDr Sophie Hindes (they/them) is a critical criminologist whose research investigates sexual violence from queer and feminist perspectives. Their PhD dissertation explored bi+ people’s experiences of negotiating sex beyond conventional sexual consent frameworks. They are currently a Research Fellow at the Australian Research Centre for Sex\, Health and Society\, working on a project on LGBTQ+ sexual violence perpetration. \nJuniper Muller (she/they) is a queer psychologist and host of Trans Sexual Podcast. She’s a proud bisexual and sex nerd\, and all round pleasure advocate. \nThis panel is brought to you by Bi+ Community Perth and the Little Pride Pin Shop as part of Stand Bi Us 2024\, a forum dedicated to Bi+ Visibility Week. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Bi+ Visibility Day with Sydney Bi+ Network at BiLines on 21 September. BiLines is our annual story sharing event to celebrate bi+ people and communities\, our unique experiences and joys. \nBiLines 2024 explores and celebrates the many ways we defy societal norms. This year’s event is all about how we create our own uniquely bi+ and beautiful stories. How we don’t have to conform to mainstream narratives of who we are\, how we live\, and what’s possible for our communities. We’re highlighting how we challenge the status quo to build a world where we can love deeply\, live freely\, and care for community. \nThis event is free\, however we ask that you please register to help us with numbers\, as the venue has a maximum capacity for COVID safety. \nWho this event is for: \nBiLines is for anyone who experiences attraction to more than one gender\, in any way\, to any degree. We welcome people who are bi+\, bisexual\, pansexual\, fluid\, queer\, omnisexual\, polysexual\, biromantic\, panromantic\, gay\, lesbian\, questioning\, and more. We welcome people who use more than one label to describe themselves\, people who use no labels\, and people who use other languages or terminology to describe themselves. We also recognise that bi+ folks and the people who love them can experience unique barriers to inclusion and invite bi+ allies\, partners\, friends\, family (biological or chosen) members and loved ones into the group. \nAccessibility Information:  \nThe event will be interpreted by Auslan interpreters. This 2-hour discussion group is for people who identify as bisexual/ pansexual/ multigender attracted and polyamorous or non-monogamous.
