Event Description
Follow walking and cycling paths for a pleasant mid-week walk from the CBD to St Kilda.
This walk forms part of our Winter Bayside Walks: 17 June: City to St Kilda | 1 July: St Kilda to Sandringham | 26 July: Sandringham to Mordialloc.
GRADE | LENGTH | TYPE: Easy, 11 km, point-to-point walk.
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION:
Starting off a bit later than normal, we head past Docklands and cross Web Bridge over the Yarra River, which was originally built for a railway line to Web Dock. We stop briefly at Polly Woodside, an 1885 barque built in Belfast. Then we make our way to the South Melbourne Tram Depot where we will follow the Port Melbourne tram line towards the bay. We will stop for lunch on the beach near Station Pier with an opportunity to buy lunch shortly before we arrive. The rest of the afternoon is spent walking along the foreshore to St Kilda, perhaps a stop for a hot chocolate. There may be some refreshment options in Acland St before catching a tram home.
DISTANCE | TIME FROM GPO: 600 metres, 20 minutes by foot.
FOOD: Bring or buy lunch, bring water and snacks.
APPAREL | FOOTWEAR: Walking boots and dress for the weather forecast.
