This part of the GVRT (Great Victorian Rail Trail) walk is an especially scenic section of this popular rail trail.
GRADE | LENGTH | TYPE: Moderate, 16 km point-to-point walk on formed track.
We will carpool to the start of the walk at Merton. From there we’ll walk the Great Victorian Rail Trail to Woodfield, after which Lake Eildon comes into sight. The trail follows the lake shoreline into Bonnie Doon and after passing through town, we cross Lake Eildon on the former 280 metre rail bridge, a highlight of the whole rail trail. We will then have refreshments at the Bonnie Doon Hotel before heading home.
