A pleasant and easy to medium naturist bushwalk through open forest to visit three small Gold Mining Dams (swim if you like), a good-sized Forest Lake (Union Hill Mine Tailings Lake – contaminated, but looks nice in Spring), sand caves, a very old earthen water channel (the Poverty Gully Water Channel) still used today, and a climb (optional) up a small mountain ‘The Monk’ for great views.
The walk is approx 6 km circuit in length, travels through open forest, along 4WD tracks and on walking tracks next to old water channels.
The walk is optionally preceded by a Saturday evening BBQ and overnight at Chewton.
If you wish to do the Sunday walk without the overnight BBQ, that is quite OK. For the walk you will need to obtain your ticket on the Nomads website at thenomadsinc.org.au and then arrive at the Chewton house at 10am for registration, so that you will be ready to start the walk at 10:30am.
