SUMMARY:Hey Kitty!
DESCRIPTION:In January 2026\, my life changed in an instant after a serious spinal accident. For weeks I lay motionless in a hospital bed\, uncertain whether I would ever be able to make sculptures again. During that time my mind wandered through memories\, gratitude\, disappointment\, hope\, and the people who shaped my life. I thought about those who let me down\, but even more importantly\, I reflected on the kindness of the people who stood beside me—especially one remarkable person\, Nicole- whose support helped me through my darkest days. \nI also found myself thinking about animals and the comfort they have always brought me. Cats kept appearing in my thoughts—their incredible resilience\, their quiet ability to comfort without asking for anything in return\, their cheeky personalities\, gentle purrs\, tiny paws and magnificent whiskers. There is something wonderfully healing about cats\, and somewhere during those long weeks I even started thinking that perhaps it was time to welcome one back into my life. \nWhen I was finally given permission to return to sculpting again\, I knew exactly what I wanted to make. Cats. Every sculpture in Hey Kitty was created as part of my recovery. Each piece became a small celebration of healing\, resilience\, hope\, and the privilege of being able to create again. \nThe title of this exhibition carries its own special meaning. Hey Kitty isn’t just a nod to my feline subjects—it is also deeply personal. “Kitty” was the nickname my big sister Jill gave me when we were children\, and she called me that throughout her life. Since losing her suddenly five years ago\, hearing those words has become one of my most treasured memories of her. Naming this exhibition Hey Kitty is a small way of honouring that connection while celebrating the joy\, resilience and comfort that inspired these sculptures. \nThe exhibition will run with International Cat Day on 8 August\, this exhibition celebrates not only our fascination with these remarkable creatures\, but also the strength we discover in ourselves through life’s unexpected challenges.

SUMMARY:Melbourne Gay Mens 40+ Support Group
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Melbourne 40+ gay men support group! \nMy name is Steven Cabral and I am a trained group facilitator and counsellor. The idea for this support group was born out of a gap in community service that I observed where mature aged gay men could share and relate to each other in midlife. I found that most of the services seem geared towards the younger generation and rightly so\, but I feel there is a particular experience in middle age and onwards that needs to be honoured\, supported\, and acknowledged. \nAs we transition into a different phase of life\, we are faced with a different set of challenges. It is my belief\, from my own experience\, that some of these are directly\, but not exclusively\, tied to our sexuality and how that can influence self-actualisation later in life. \nSome of us may be carrying trauma from a time where we weren’t as readily accepted. This may be seeping through other areas of our life and affecting our beliefs of self-worth and love\, completely unbeknownst to us. Some of us may be feeling alone at this phase in our lives because we didn’t follow the well worn societal map followed by the majority; such as having kids and partners. As a result\, we may feel alone in a peer groups or especially within our own families. Some of us may simply be struggling to navigate this new phase and all that it entails ranging from dating in middle age to bigger questions of how to find meaning and purpose in our lives. Some of us may be dealing with grief. \nIf any of this resonates with you\, then I want you to know that you are not alone. My hope for the group is that you feel a sense of belonging and shared experience. That\, in of itself\, can be extremely healing. \nThe group is not a substitute for therapy\, but a safe space to share and connect with others on a similar journey and to find inspiration. \nThe group is specifically targeted to gay men who are aged 40+ due to the topics covered. Due to the limitations of the space and the need to keep it intimate\, there is a maximum of 10 attendees.

SUMMARY:Nomads Outdoors Group – Wednesday Cycling – 3rd Wed each month
DESCRIPTION:Do you enjoy cycling\, and are you sometimes free on Wednesdays? You’re welcome to join the Nomads Wednesday cyclists.\n** See Archive – Wednesday Bike Rides for the upcoming Wednesday’s cycling details (posted on the prior Monday night). ** \nGRADE | LENGTH | TYPE: Rides are of varying length and difficulty\, mostly in metro Melbourne\, but sometimes in Regional Victoria. The typical distance is between 30 and 50 km\, though there are usually options to either extend or shorten the ride. \nACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: Time off on Wednesdays? Join a small group of Nomads and friends for a leisurely cycle on trails around metro Melbourne\, and occasionally into Regional Victoria\, usually on the third Wednesday of the month. Emphasis is on the social aspect\, not on breaking world speed records! All rides are designed to either start in central Melbourne\, or to start and finish close to train stations. The rides usually start at around 10:30am to avoid needing to travel with bikes on trains in peak hour. We often meet in\, or near\, a cafe so you can have a coffee prior to starting the ride if you wish. We generally have lunch in a cafe or pub along the way\, though occasionally you will need to bring a picnic lunch if there are no suitable options available – in that case the ride description will clearly indicate the need to BYO lunch. \nThe upcoming ride details are emailed to everybody on the Wednesday Cyclists Mailing List\, usually on the prior Monday evening\, by which time the weather forecast for Wednesday is fairly reliable. That way\, a ride can be chosen to suit the forecast\, for example to keep the wind behind us as much as possible\, and to ensure there are bailout train station options if there’s a likelihood of rain.

SUMMARY:314 Session - Loneliness
DESCRIPTION:We all have moments where we feel a little disconnected. \nSometimes it’s because life gets busy. Sometimes it’s because we’re going through changes\, feeling isolated\, or finding it hard to reach out. For many LGBTQIAPN+ people\, finding spaces where we feel comfortable\, understood and connected can make a real difference. \nThat’s why Euphoria Foundation created the 314 Movement Online Peer Check-In — a free online space where LGBTQIAPN+ people can come together\, take a moment for themselves and connect with others. \nEach session begins with a simple 314 check-in: \n3 Gratitudes — something you appreciate or want to acknowledge\n1 Support — something you need or someone you can connect with\n4 Breaths — a moment to pause and reset \nFrom there\, we open up a relaxed conversation around a different wellbeing topic. \nThis Session: Loneliness\nFor this session\, we’ll be talking about loneliness.\nLoneliness looks different for everyone. It might be feeling disconnected from others\, missing community\, struggling to find your place\, or simply wishing you had someone to talk to. \nTogether\, we’ll explore:\nWhat loneliness means to us\nHow it can affect our wellbeing\nThe small things that help us feel more connected\nHow we can support ourselves and each other \nYou don’t need to have anything prepared. You don’t need to share if you don’t want to. You’re welcome to simply listen and be part of the space. \nA Space to Come As You Are \nThe Online Peer Check-In is designed to be a gentle\, welcoming and low-pressure space. \nWhether you’re joining an LGBTQIAPN+ community space for the first time\, or you’re looking for another way to stay connected\, you are welcome. \nThis is not a therapy or counselling session. It is a community-led space built around connection\, lived experience and mutual support. \nWe believe small moments of connection can have a big impact. \nEvent Details\n314 Movement | Online Peer Check-In\nTheme: Loneliness\nDate: Wednesday\, 19 August 2026\nTime: 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm AEST\nLocation: Online\nCost: Free (pay what you feel)\nPlaces: Limited to 30 participants \nPlease join with kindness and respect. Everyone’s experiences are different\, and we want this to be a space where people feel safe\, valued and included. \n314 Movement by Euphoria Foundation\nFacilitated by Ben Williams – LGBT+ Social Hub Melbourne | Meetup and 314 Committee Member.

SUMMARY:Love Letter to the 90s
DESCRIPTION:Love Letter to the 90s is an intimate\, funny\, and deeply moving storytelling cabaret by Cherry Charleston that reflects on what it meant to come out as a lesbian in the 1990s\, a time when being gay was still illegal in Tasmania and queer lives existed without legal recognition or protection. Through personal stories of love\, protest\, and survival\, Cherry recalls a decade of the evolution of queer rights alongside moments of joy.\nCherry is backed by a powerhouse group of women\, and you get to sing along with us to iconic 90s queer anthems.\nThe show is by turns raw\, nostalgic\, and celebratory: a love letter to chosen family\, hard-won visibility\, and the songs that carried a generation through isolation into pride.\nTrigger warning: this work references discrimination\, death\, and the impact of systemic homophobia.
