SUMMARY:Free: Outdoors for All: Inclusive Camping Experience – Jan 2027
DESCRIPTION:Oot & Aboot’s Community Camp is a relaxed\, low-pressure overnight camping experience designed to bring LGBTQIA+ people and allies together in nature. \nThis is our 8th camping event\, and we’re bringing that summer energy. Think warm evenings\, bay breezes\, and good company. There’s no packed schedule or expectations\, just space to soak up the season\, connect\, and enjoy the outdoors together. \nThis event is proudly supported by Greater Western Water. \nTarget Participants \nLGBTQIA+ individuals within GWW’s service area \nPriority groups: \nFirst-time campers \nTrans and gender diverse individuals \nCulturally and linguistically diverse communities \nAcross one night\, you can look forward to: \nA self-paced 2 hour hike along the Wyndham Bay Trail (Saturday morning\, optional) \nA welcoming and inclusive camp environment \nLawn and board games in the sun \nSwimming\, if you’re keen for a dip to cool off \nCatered lunch and dinner on Saturday\, and breakfast on Sunday \nPlenty of unstructured community time to talk\, laugh\, and soak up the summer evening \nA detailed itinerary will be sent out via email at least 10 days before the event. This is an adults-only (18+) event. No prior camping experience is required. \nPre-event WhatsApp group\nFor this event\, we’re trialling an opt-in WhatsApp group for confirmed ticket holders. It’s a relaxed space to say hi\, ask questions\, or get to know a few faces before the day\, especially handy if you’re coming solo and want a bit of a heads-up on who else will be there. Joining is completely optional. Your phone number may be visible to other members and the group will be deleted 3 days after the event. \nThe campsite is located at Werribee. For safety and privacy reasons\, the exact location will be provided only to confirmed ticket holders and can be found on the ticket sent via email after payment. Please remember to check your junk or spam folder if you don’t see it in your inbox. \nTicket options:\nWe offer a few different ticket types depending on what you need\, whether you already have your own tent and transport sorted\, need a tent\, need transport\, or need both. Please select the option that matches your situation at checkout. \nKnow before you go: \nCatering covers lunch and dinner on Saturday\, and breakfast on Sunday. You’re welcome to bring your own snacks and drinks to supplement\, along with sun protection\, swimwear\, and any personal items you need \nIf you’ve selected a ticket with tent\, transport or both\, these will be organised for you. No prior camping experience is required. This event is designed to be welcoming for everyone\, whether you’re a seasoned camper or trying it for the first time. If you don’t have your own gear\, we also offer ticket options that include camping gear\, so that’s not a barrier either. \nWhat does my ticket include?\nEvery ticket includes your campsite for the night\, catered lunch and dinner on Saturday\, and breakfast on Sunday. \nDepending on which ticket type you select\, you can also add: \nCamping gear such as a tent\, mattress\, pillow\, sleeping bag\, sleeping bag liner\, camping chair\, or swag. Subject to availability (General Admission – Camping Gear Request) \nTickets that include camping gear require a security deposit\, which is fully refundable provided equipment is returned in good condition. \nNot included: personal snacks/drinks (beyond meals)\, alcohol\, and any camping gear not requested at checkout. \nWhat food is provided?\nWe’ll provide lunch and dinner on Saturday\, and breakfast on Sunday. You’re welcome to bring your own snacks and drinks to supplement these meals. \nAs a 100% volunteer-run charity\, we’re not able to guarantee accommodation of specific dietary or allergy requirements.
