About

The Victorian Pride Centre is the first purpose-built centre for Victoria’s LGBTIQ+ communities. It is a place to pave new directions for the future of LGBTIQ+ communities, while honouring and celebrating our brave – and at times difficult – past. It is home to practical and supportive services and will grow into a destination for visitors from across Australia, and beyond.

The Victorian Pride Centre Ltd. is a not-for-profit organisation structured as a company limited by guarantee, and was registered in October 2016. It has been established with a skills-based board of non-executive directors.

Four of Australia’s top design practices were shortlisted to enter the second and final stage of the Victorian Pride Centre Design Competition.

Pride Centre Design Selected

St Kilda-based firms Grant Amon Architects and Brearley Architects and Urbanists are the winners of the Pride Centre design competition.

City of Port Phillip Consultations

City of Port Phillip undertake community consultation on Proposed Amendment C149 to facilitate the delivery of the Victorian Pride Centre.

Victorian Pride Centre new Logo Launched

The Victorian Pride Centre launches new look and feel to reflect the diversity, vibrancy and strength of LGBTIQ+ communities.

Planning Scheme Approved

Richard Wynne, Minister for Planning announces approval of the City of Port Phillip’s request for Amendment C149.

Construction Tender Released

In June, the VPC undertook an Expression of Interest process. Four construction companies have now received construction tender documentation.

Construction Contract Awarded

Hansen Yuncken is selected to build the Victorian Pride Centre after a comprehensive tender evaluation process assessed a number of highly competitive bids.

The Victorian Pride Centre is briefly open to the public before COVID-19 restrictions are re-introduced.

The Victorian Pride Centre re-opens to the public

The completed VPC re-opens its doors on November 5.

The inaugural exhibition 'Identity, Adornment, Transformation' opens along with new exhibition 'Queer-ways: Retracing Melbourne's Queer Footprint'

Our first Rooftop Party

The after party for Midsumma Festival's Pride March is our first celebration on the glorious rooftop!
