SUMMARY:LGBTQIA+ Tuning Into Teens
DESCRIPTION:LGBTQIA+ Tuning in to Teens helps parents strengthen communication and emotional connection with their teens. \nThe LGBTQIA+ Tuning in to Teens program is a free\, seven-week parenting program designed for parents and carers of young people who may identify as LGBTQIA+ who live\, work\, study or have a connection to Brimbank. The program is especially suited for parents who want to improve connection and better manage everyday challenges with their teenagers. \nAcross the seven online sessions\, parents learn about:\n– Emotional intelligence\n– The five steps of emotion coaching\n– Different parenting styles\n– Practical strategies for managing anger\n– Resolving conflict\n– Promoting emotional self-care \nParents who have completed the program report feeling calmer\, more confident\, and closer to their teens\, with noticeable improvements in their teen’s behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

DESCRIPTION:Get excited because the incredible podcast\, ‘Ida The Hobit and The Crystal Queer Deers’ is becoming a PLAY! \nIda the Hobbit and the Crystal Queer Deers is the story of Ida\, a young person who starts her journey not quite understanding the LGBTQIA+ community.\nShe does something drastic at a friend’s birthday party\, which she deeply regrets. As a result\, Ida gets turned into a hobbit and must help her deer friends on their own journeys of self-discovery\, as they each explore their LGBTQIA+ identities. \nThis theatre production is produced in an exciting collaboration between local young people; the Crystal Queer program run through Brimbank Youth Services; the Brimbank Youth Arts program from Creative Brimbank; the Brimbank FReeZA Committee; and the Duke Street Community House. \nIt will premiere at The Bowery Theatre on Friday\, 15th November 2024\, in celebration of Transgender Awareness Week. \nThis play is based off the Ida the Hobbit and the Crystal Queer Deers podcast\, produced by the Crystal Queer program and Duke Street Community House. Available on all streaming platforms now! \nMore information about the auditions: \nWho can audition?\nThe auditions for this play are open to young people of all abilities between the ages of 12 – 25 years of age.
