About

The Mental Health Foundation Australia (MHFA) is Australia’s first mental health organisation, established in 1930 as the Victorian Council for Mental Hygiene. The MHFA prides itself in ongoing advocacy in the Mental Health Sector for over 90 years and has been at the forefront of many developments in the Australian and International Mental Health Movement. The MHFA has played a significant role in establishing the current network of services and support for Mental Health consumers. Many of the organisations now prominent in the Mental Health sector had their beginnings as a part of the MHFA or developed out of MHFA initiatives.

The MHFA is proud of the fact that the people who are a part of the foundation are from all walks of life, whether they be professionals, those living with mental health issues, family, friends and carers of those experiencing mental health issues, or related organisations concerned with Mental Health in our community. This allows the MHFA to a adopt a holistic approach to Mental Health that allows us to incorporate the expertise of our members into our daily operations.

Growing Mind Australia and the Mental Health Foundation Australia will be running two workshops with the LGBTIQA+ community.

Workshop 1: Parents of Queer Children (0-24 years old)

Workshop 2: Queer Young People (16-24 years old)

Workshop aims:
- To identify the possible benefits, burdens, or trade-offs of how mental health data is collected, shared and used.
- To examine how end-users value data about mental health and whom they will share their data with.
- To identify the social factors that influence the use and application of digital technologies, including third-party use.
- To examine how predictive information is communicated and understood, and to what impact on clinical practice this might have.
