Intersex Peer Support Australia
About
Intersex Peer Support Australia is a support and advocacy organisation for people born with variations in sex characteristics, as well as their families. We provide peer support and work to amplify the voices and lived experiences of those with intersex bodies that differ from stereotypical notions of male and female.
IPSA has representatives across every state and territory in Australia, as well as in Aotearoa/New Zealand. We offer both one-on-one and group peer support online, over the phone, and in person. Our work includes connecting intersex people of all ages—and parents—with each other, providing medical advocacy, assisting with referrals to allied health professionals, delivering information and training, and raising awareness for positive, systemic change to better meet our community’s needs.
We also host an annual conference exclusively for people with intersex variations, along with their partners, parents, and families. Through all of our work, we aim to build community capacity and foster a strong sense of intersex pride.
IPSA is a proud partner of InterAction for Health and Human Rights
We are a part of InterAction for Health and Human Rights, who are registered as a: Charity.
