Seeking Ace/Aro Visual Artists: Exhibition in February 2025

Luciella Scarlett (she/they) and Louis Joel Arts & Community are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from visual artists on the asexual and/or aromantic spectrums for a history exhibition and art show planned for February 2025. This exhibition will be open from 1-20 February 2025 at the Louis Joel Gallery at 5 Sargood St Altona, VIC 3018. There is no cost to participate, though a gallery commission fee will apply to any sales.

EOIs close 11:59pm, 13 October 2024.

“Nonlimerent”, coined by Dorothy Tennov in 1979, and “monosexual”, by Karl Maria Kertbeny in 1868, are terms that have historically held similar meanings to “aromantic” and “asexual”. This history exhibition and art show will explore the forces, individuals and events that have shaped a-spec identity over time.

To express your interest, please email gallery@ljac.com.au, put “Nonlimerent Monosexual EOI” as the subject and include a summary of who you are and how to contact you, an indication of the number and type of pieces you would like to contribute (e.g. how they might connect with the theme) and 2-4 sample images that demonstrate your art style.
