Biography

Waldemar Jenek is an educator, maker-space leader, and cross-cultural mentor whose work bridges design, technology, and inclusive community engagement. He has led innovation spaces that support thousands of students, educators, and professionals each year to explore new ideas and bring them to life in safe, welcoming environments.
Having grown up in Germany and now based in Melbourne, he is deeply committed to building spaces where diversity is recognised as a strength, from engineering labs to public libraries and cultural hubs. Waldemar is also a dedicated volunteer at the Victorian Pride Centre, where he leads architecture tours that celebrate the Centre’s design and its role as a symbol of visibility, inclusion, and community.
Drawing on both his personal lived experience and professional expertise, Waldemar speaks with authenticity about:

• LGBTIQA+ inclusion in education, workplaces, and public spaces
• Creating safe and empowering environments for young people
• Intersectionality and navigating professional life across cultures
• Resilience and leadership as an LGBTIQA+ person in STEM and creative industries

Having lived and worked in both Germany and Australia, Waldemar brings a global perspective to his presentations. His passion is to show that inclusive spaces don’t just happen, they are designed, nurtured, and sustained through intentional action.

Experience

Waldemar Jenek has served as a board member of international German Australian Business Alliance (iGABA) and Young iGABA, where he contributed to strengthening German–Australian collaboration in innovation, business, and education.
