SUMMARY:Exhibition: New Work by David Rosetzky
DESCRIPTION:A new art installation developed through conversations and creative exchange with LGBTQIA+ community members in Kingston. Bringing together photography\, sound and text\, the exhibition reflects on how we experience and express identity — through our bodies\, relationships\, and the environments we move through. \nThe work creates a quiet\, immersive space that considers visibility\, care\, and the subtle ways we hold one another in community. Developed collaboratively\, the work responds to lived experience in Kingston while continuing the artist’s broader interest in portraiture\, intimacy and the textures of queer life. \nABOUT THE ARTIST: \nDavid Rosetzky is an artist based in Naarm/Melbourne whose cross-disciplinary practice spans photography\, video\, installation and collaboration. His work explores identity\, intimacy and LGBTQIA+ representation through layered\, experimental processes. \nRosetzky has exhibited widely in Australia and internationally\, and his works are held in major public collections including the National Gallery of Australia\, National Gallery of Victoria\, Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Museum of Australian Photography. He has undertaken significant commissions\, most notably his 2008 video portrait of Cate Blanchett for the National Portrait Gallery. Known for his nuanced\, collaborative approach to contemporary portraiture\, he continues to develop projects at the intersection of visual art\, performance and community. \nImage: Portrait of Anna by David Rosetzky\, selected participant from Air to Atmosphere (2023)\, developed for Castlemaine Art Museum.

SUMMARY:Speed Mating: Chemistry Lab Edition
DESCRIPTION:Does this sound like you? \n– Tired of endless app chats that never lead anywhere meaningful?\n– Want connection that feels earned\, not swiped?\n– Craving a space where you can think\, build\, laugh\, and meet grounded\, like minded men? \nIf you’re nodding along\, you’ll feel right at home here! \nWelcome to the ‘Chemistry Lab Edition’ – a night designed to spark connection through curiosity\, creativity\, and collaboration. \nThis isn’t about speed rounds or surface level small talk. It’s about building things with your hands\, solving riddles\, unpacking mysteries\, and letting shared problem solving do what it does best: create natural conversation and genuine social connection. \nIn this edition\, the “icebreakers” aren’t questions – they’re challenges. \n– You might be decoding clues.\n– You might be constructing something unexpected.\n– You might be teaming up to solve a mystery. \nWhatever the format\, the magic happens in the doing. So think: \nNo awkward rotations.\nNo forced scripts.\nJust open minds\, collaborative energy\, and connection that unfolds organically. \nAnd here’s the twist: no two ‘Chemistry Lab’ nights will ever be the same. The activities change. The dynamics shift. The results? They may vary and that’s part of the fun. \nWhat To Expect: \n– A facilitated evening of hands on challenges\, collaborative puzzles\, and playful mystery solving designed to spark conversation without forcing it.\n– You’ll have two full hours to rotate organically between activities\, team up\, mingle\, and connect at your own pace.\n– You don’t need to be “good” at riddles or building things – curiosity beats skill every time. Whether you’re socially confident or still stretching that muscle\, you’ll be welcomed\, supported\, and free to engage in whatever way feels right for you. \nThe Venue: \nWe’ll be gathering in the back bar of the The Laird Hotel – one of Australia’s longest running gay owned venues. Once known as Melbourne’s iconic bear and leather bar\, The Laird has evolved into a warm and inclusive meeting place for same sex attracted CIS and Trans men. \nEvent Details: \n– The Laird Hotel – Back Bar\n– Arrive by 6:45pm for a 7:00pm start\n– Free tickets (bring a friend!) via Eventbrite until sold out \nPlease Note: \n– This is not a dating or hook-up event. It’s about collaboration\, community\, and building authentic social connection – so please respect the vibe.\n– If you book a ticket\, please make sure you attend. If you can’t make it\, cancel so someone else can join the experiment. \nCome curious. Come ready to build. Come ready to solve. Come ready to connect.

SUMMARY:Melbourne Gay Mens 40+ Support Group
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Melbourne 40+ gay men support group! \nMy name is Steven Cabral and I am a trained group facilitator and counsellor. The idea for this support group was born out of a gap in community service that I observed where mature aged gay men could share and relate to each other in midlife. I found that most of the services seem geared towards the younger generation and rightly so\, but I feel there is a particular experience in middle age and onwards that needs to be honoured\, supported\, and acknowledged. \nAs we transition into a different phase of life\, we are faced with a different set of challenges. It is my belief\, from my own experience\, that some of these are directly\, but not exclusively\, tied to our sexuality and how that can influence self-actualisation later in life. \nSome of us may be carrying trauma from a time where we weren’t as readily accepted. This may be seeping through other areas of our life and affecting our beliefs of self-worth and love\, completely unbeknownst to us. Some of us may be feeling alone at this phase in our lives because we didn’t follow the well worn societal map followed by the majority; such as having kids and partners. As a result\, we may feel alone in a peer groups or especially within our own families. Some of us may simply be struggling to navigate this new phase and all that it entails ranging from dating in middle age to bigger questions of how to find meaning and purpose in our lives. Some of us may be dealing with grief. \nIf any of this resonates with you\, then I want you to know that you are not alone. My hope for the group is that you feel a sense of belonging and shared experience. That\, in of itself\, can be extremely healing. \nThe group is not a substitute for therapy\, but a safe space to share and connect with others on a similar journey and to find inspiration. \nThe group is specifically targeted to gay men who are aged 40+ due to the topics covered. Due to the limitations of the space and the need to keep it intimate\, there is a maximum of 10 attendees.
