Expressions of interest to exhibit at the Victorian Pride Centre Gallery in 2027 are now open. Applications will be assessed by the visual arts curator and a volunteer selection panel of LGBTIQA+ artists and arts workers.

The Victorian Pride Centre

The Victorian Pride Centre is a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful space for all LGBTIQ+ communities and their allies.

Our vision is a world where every LGBTIQ+ person has a place where they are welcomed, valued, respected and celebrated.

Our purpose is to connect, support and amplify LGBTIQ+ voices, resources, services and groups so that our communities are cohesive, resilient and thrive.

The Pride Centre’s visual arts programming has a focus on artwork/s by LGBTIQA+ artists and/or art that focuses on LGBTIQA+ issues. Visual arts at the Pride Centre reflects the diversity of LGBTIQA+ communities and is a catalyst for dialogue both within the LGBTIQA+ community and with the wider community.

The Pride Centre provides opportunities for visual arts and archival display through programming gallery exhibitions and the display of artworks in other suitable spaces within the Pride Centre. The Pride Gallery is programmed by the Visual Arts Curator and a voluntary advisory group of LGBTQIA+ artists and art workers.

Selection Criteria

Expressions of interest for exhibitions at the Pride Centre Gallery are assessed by a Visual Arts Selection Panel based on the following:

1. How the artwork/exhibition aligns with the focus of the Victorian Pride Centre as described above.
2. How the artwork/exhibition adds to the diversity of the representation of LGBTIQA+ communities at the Pride Centre.
3. Artistic merit and uniqueness of the artwork/exhibition.
4. Logistical feasibility of the artwork/exhibition being displayed at the Pride Centre. This includes the durability of the artwork and any potential risk that the artwork may pose to visitors and tenants of the Victorian Pride Centre. Applicants should take into consideration that artwork will be displayed in a public, unsupervised space.
5. You must be over the age of 18 to submit an application (however this does not exclude artists who are under the age of 18, being part of an exhibition).

Please note that the VPC Pride Gallery’s Visual Arts Program has very limited resources and we are unable to provide artists with funds for the development of exhibitions and artworks.

If successful the Victorian Pride Centre will generate a contract with the artist for signing.
