Join us for a conversation about the state of Australian LGBTIQA+ human rights explored through queer storytelling.

The UNSW Community of Practice in Inclusive Research with Queer and Trans people, and people with innate variations of sex characteristics (Intersex), and the Centre for Criminology, Law and Justice, are proud to co-host writer and lawyer Sam Elkin to discuss his new book, Detachable Penis: A Queer Legal Saga which spans his years establishing Victoria’s first LGBTIQ legal service while the marriage equality debates were raging.

In conversation with Dr Andy Kaladelfos (UNSW Faculty of Law &Justice), Sam and Andy will explore fast-moving anti-trans political agendas, the challenges ahead for LGBTIQA+ rights, and how we can keep ourselves safe in the face of it all.

This is a free event supported by the Community of Practice for Inclusive Research with Queer and Trans people, and people with innate variations of sex characteristics (Intersex), and the Centre for Criminology, Law and Justice at UNSW.
