This exhibition is a joyful tribute to the diversity of dogs and the deep comfort they offer—especially within queer communities. I had a lot of fun making these pieces. It was a timely relief during a period when I was facing transphobia around my touring exhibition of Another Quiet Protest from a curator and gallery manager of a council run gallery. Dogs ask nothing of us but to be ourselves. For many queer people, they are chosen family, loyal companions who love without condition. Over 60% of LGBT!Q+ individuals live with pets, and it’s no wonder. Dogs remind us to come home to ourselves. August, which includes International Dog Day and whats getting recognised as National Dog Month, is a fitting time to honour their joy, resilience, and steadfast presence. These works celebrate dogs not just as pets, but as everyday co-pilots, quiet protectors, and bearers of joy—who sit beside us, whoever we are, and remind us we’re never truly alone.
