Poetry for Pride
June 12 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

This event is brought to you by Fitzroy Street Precinct Traders.
It’s Pride Month and we’re celebrating on Fitzroy Street with an incredible night of poetry and spoken word!
ABOUT THE POETRY
Held in the beautiful Ellora (with a view of the ocean), newbies and old hands alike will take to the stage and share their thoughts, feelings, experiences, musings and more.
You’ll hear from featured artist, Foot (read more on them below) and then we’ll be inviting pre-registered speakers to the stage (7pm – 8pm), followed by open mic (8.30pm – 9.30pm).
To be included in the pre-registered speakers section and guaranteed a spot, register at this link so we can add you to the schedule. Pre-registration will be closed once we reach our quota.
Please keep the following in mind, if you’re planning to share:
- There is no experience needed
- You needn’t even have written what you are sharing. You can bring in something written by someone else that is amazing, inspiring or moves you, as long as you credit them
- No need to be nervous! The event will consist of a respectful and welcoming space of speakers and listeners
- Please note, we cannot accept any poems longer than 7 min, to ensure time for as many people as possible to share
- We will accept a certain number of pre-registrations for the first hour. The second hour will be open mic and it will be first to register, upon arrival at event, will be the first to share. We will get through as many people as we can until time runs out for the evening
Note: there is also a blanket content warning on the evening
For those wanting to attend the night simply to listen, all are welcome and entry is free. Arrive early to get a seat, standing room also available.

A little on featured artist, FOOT:
Foot is a queer Artist/Performer hybrid who has a passion of poetry and the spoken word. Having Published a Collection of Poetry in 2018 they have since moved to explore the writing side of their artistic practice through live performance and vulnerability. They actively run an ongoing Spoken Word community on Bunurong and Wadawurrung lands in outer west Narrm.
