Nature has always been queer and this month, we are leaning all the way in.
From gender-fluid fish to hermaphroditic plants, same-sex pair bonds in birds to male seahorses giving birth, the natural world is overflowing with diversity, fluidity, and non-conformity. Much of this was ignored or left out of the textbooks for a long time. This workshop is an invitation to reclaim it.
As Nature Intended explores the intersection of queer identity and ecology – what the living world has always known about diversity and belonging, and what it might reflect back to us about ourselves.
Through a grounding meditation, slow guided walk, and individual creative process, we’ll explore our kinship with the natural world. We will then come together to craft a collective artwork in response to the theme.
    What to expect:
A brief, accessible introduction to queer ecology
A grounding visualisation connecting you into the web of life
A solo walk through Darebin Parklands to notice diversity and unexpected relationship in the natural world
    Time for individual creative exploration
    A collaborative group process
    A gentle closing circle

No art experience is required – just curiosity, openness, and your brilliant queer self. This is a space for LGBTQIA+ kin of all backgrounds, abilities, and expressions to connect, reflect, and replenish in community.
Light refreshments and art materials provided.
This is an inclusive, neuro-affirming space. Participation is always by invitation – everything is optional, and you can engage in whatever way feels right for you.
Come join us in co-creating an afternoon of queer belonging, creativity, and connection with the living world.
