Disco explores the stereotype of the LGBTQ+ community as perpetually hedonistic and pleasure-seeking. By reimagining the disco club scene -a period emblematic of queer liberation – I explore the complexities of queer identity within queer spaces offering an alternative reading as sites of refuge and connection. The work challenges audiences to reconsider the multifaceted nature of LGBTQ+ lives, moving beyond reductive portrayals.

Alun Rhys Jones graduated with Honours from the National Art School, Sydney in 2011. His work has been exhibited extensively throughout Australia and internationally. Since graduating he has participated in twelve solo exhibitions and more than 30 group shows.
