Circle of Security Parenting Program for Trans Caregivers
About
Clinical Psychologist Clare Billings (she/they) is offering the Circle of Security ParentingTM program exclusively to caregivers (parents, foster carers and kinships carers) who are transgender, gender diverse, non-binary, genderqueer or questioning their gender identity.
At times all caregivers feel lost or without a clue about what their child might need from them. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking from you. The Circle of Security ParentingTM program is based on decades of research about how secure caregiver-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.
Learning Objectives of the Program:
• Understand your child’s emotional world by learning to read their emotional needs
• Support your child’s ability to successfully manage emotions
• Enhance the development of your child’s self esteem
• Honor your innate wisdom and desire for your child to be secure
Transgender, gender diverse, non-binary, genderqueer or questioning caregivers can come together and experience the program in an inclusive environment.
Who can attend: Transgender, gender diverse, non-binary, genderqueer or questioning people who are caregivers (through birth, kinship care, foster care or adoption) of children around 4 months – 6 years old and based in Victoria.
What does it involve:
Intake appointment: a 1-hour video call with the facilitator to learn more about the program and work out whether it is right for you right now or what other support may be helpful.
Group sessions: 8 X 1.5 hour-long sessions of watching videos of caregivers and children interacting and a presenter talking about how to build secure attachment with your child, then reflecting together as a group with the support of the facilitator.
Dates, times and location: All sessions take place online via Microsoft Teams. Date and time based on participant availability.
Cost: $311 for individual intake appointment (1 hour) then $600 for 8-week group (8 X 1.5 hours), per participant.
