As a disabled, neurodivergent, queer and trans educator, I want to especially make myself available to provide a safe learning space for disabled, neurodivergent, queer and trans students!

– Y7-10 Science
– Y7-10 English
– Y7-10 History
– VCE Mathematics – Further & Methods
– HSC Mathematics – Advanced & Extension 1
– Possibly other Y11/12 Mathematics subjects in other states, message me to discuss

– (I can work with homeschool students and plan a curriculum for them in some subjects, so reach out if that’s you/your kid!)
MY APPROACH – STUDENT-CENTRED
I’ve seen a lot of teachers come and go with a very standard method of teaching that they use for all students, but education is not a one-size-fits-all thing. Every student learns differently, and I take the time to make sure I’m tailoring my teaching to each student’s needs. This can look like a lot of different things, such as:

– For disabled and neurodivergent students, I’ll never brush off how their disability or neurodivergency affects their learning *or* their life as a whole, and make sure I factor that in. As a neurodivergent person myself, I understand that school learning environments don’t always succeed in meeting the needs of students like myself, and I hope to bridge that gap for my own students.

– Some students really don’t like a particular subject and want to pay it as little mind as possible – I won’t deny or belittle their feelings around that, and will work with them to help them achieve the results they need as efficiently as possible so that they can have more time to do the things they actually enjoy.

– A student may be behind in certain skills or learning areas, and if I notice this, I’ll work with the student to catch them up in whatever way works best while balancing with any pressing school deadlines.

– I make an effort to teach students how to advocate for themselves, and communicate their needs to others! For disabled and neurodivergent students, having the language to describe one’s own experience can make a huge difference in their ability get have their needs met, and this is something I always want to work on where needed and wanted.

– I focus on working with the student towards their own personal goals, and help them feel empowered through their education.

WHAT ARE MY RATES?
– Standard rate is $100/hr
– Year 11/12 rate is $110/hr
– I’m implementing a sliding scale for families who cannot afford these rates; I can afford to go down to $85/hr, and I’ll trust you to let me know what you can afford

– I have an ABN for families who want to use NDIS funding
