Inner Haven Therapy
About
Kevin Vun (He/Him)
Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Coach & Relationship Therapist.
Melbourne, Sydney & Online
I work with queer people who are thoughtful, self-aware, and tired of being pathologised, rushed, or boxed in — especially when their lives, relationships, identities, or histories don’t fit neat frameworks.
I’m a queer, Asian male psychotherapist with over a decade of lived, professional, and community-based experience working across Australia, Canada, and the UK. I’ve worked in private practice, community settings, non-profit, charities, crisis lines, schools, EAPs, and alongside diverse organisations supporting LGBTQIA+ communities, including clients navigating migration, identity development, trauma, addiction, relationship complexity, and burnout.
My work is grounded, relational, and practical — not performative, not prescriptive, and not “one-size-fits-all queer care”.
Who I Work With
I support individuals and relationships across the queer spectrum, including:
-
Gay, bi, trans, non-binary, questioning & gender-diverse clients
-
Queer men, Asian & CALD clients, and those navigating cultural identity
-
Neurodivergent clients
-
People in monogamous, ENM, open, kink-aware, or non-traditional relationships
-
Clients working through trauma, attachment wounds, shame, addiction, or identity fatigue
-
Couples and relationships wanting depth, repair, and real tools — not blame
I work affirmatively, but I don’t assume. I listen first.
How I Work
My approach is integrative and evidence-based, drawing from, but not limited to:
-
EMDR (trauma processing)
-
Gottman Method (Level 3) for relationship work
- Emotionally Focused Therapy
-
Attachment-focused and psychodynamic therapy
-
Somatic, narrative, CBT & solution-focused approaches
- Mindfulness, meditation, visualisation
- Client Centred Therapy
What matters most is not the modality — it’s whether the work feels safe, collaborative, and useful.
What a Session With Me Is Like
Sessions are calm, human, and intentional.
You won’t be analysed from a distance or pushed to perform insight. We’ll slow things down when needed, name patterns honestly, and work with what’s actually happening in your life — not what should be happening.
Clients often tell me sessions feel:
-
Grounded and non-judgmental
-
Emotionally safe, but not passive
-
Insightful and practical
-
Respectful of autonomy, boundaries, and pace
I care deeply about ethical practice, transparency, and not over-promising. Therapy with me is a shared process — not something done to you. I also see these sessions are your own, you take the reins and I provide suggestions where appropriate. We work towards your goals, and I provide processing, education, tools, & insight along the way.
A Note on Values
Inner Haven Therapy was built to remove stigma from accessing therapy and to offer queer-affirming care that is ethical, thoughtful, and genuinely inclusive — not just in language, but in practice.
If you’re looking for a therapist who understands complexity, honours your lived experience, and treats you as a whole person rather than a label, you’re welcome here.
