About
I’m queer and trans, chronically ill, neurodivergent and Mad. I’m a social worker and PhD candidate studying coercion as a response to suicidal distress and am keen to support people experiencing suicidal distress in a non-pathologising and non-coercive way.
I tend to try and avoid buzz words that have lost all meaning such as ‘LGBTIQA+ affirming’, ‘person-centred’, ‘trauma-informed’ and ‘neuro-affirming’, and instead just provide support to you in a way that honours your expertise in your own experiences while we work together to try out some different things until we find what works for you. Take what you want from therapy and leave the rest.
I believe therapy is inherently political in nature. I’m not going to teach you to ‘overcome’ marginalisation or to think more positively about it, instead we’ll find ways to live a life that you want to live, while trying to find some joy in the every day as resistance to the oppressive systems we find ourselves within.
I incorporate lived experience expertise and values with social work theories and practice, further academic knowledge from postgraduate studies and training in a variety of treatment modalities. I aim to be flexible and responsive to your needs and am always willing to adapt how we approach things together.
