Melbourne Surge Water Polo is Victoria’s only LGBTIQ+ water polo club and the fastest growing water polo club in the state. Melbourne Surge caters for members of the community at all levels, from absolute beginners to established players.

For those who are new to sport, Melbourne Surge runs their annual Rookies Program, a 10-week program teaching water polo basics and culminating in the Rookies Debut Match in the final week. Melbourne Surge also welcomes newcomers throughout the year through their social training sessions.

For established and returning players, Melbourne Surge offers competitive training sessions and currently enters competitive teams in Water Polo Victoria’s Winter and State League Championships.

Throughout the year, Melbourne Surge also fields non-gendered teams in interstate matches with our LGBTIQ+ sibling clubs (Sydney Stingers, Brisbane Tritons, and Perth White Pointers) as well as international competitions (IGLA championships, Gay Games, World Out Games).

Melbourne Surge takes pride in playing an active role in our LGBTIQ communities throughout the year at community events including: Midsumma, Mardi Gras, Northside Bizarre, Polo by the Pier, and Surf Vs Turf.
