About

Origami Customs is a trans-owned line of swimwear and undergarments that feature free custom sizing to support folks of all bodies and genders. Our unique gender and body-affirming gear is handmade in Montreal by a small team of queer and trans people. Our mission is to get affirming products to anyone who needs them, even when it means giving them away for free.

We also make sure folks have access to up-to-date, free and accessible safety information and resources beyond just our fashion niche. We host free monthly webinars on topics including disability and gender, professionalism for trans folks, advocacy, and training for allies.

Beyond designing our products and running our Montreal production studio, we also started a global community program that collaborates with hundreds of NGOs on five continents, including healthcare providers, universities and more to provide free, gender-affirming garments to trans and gender-diverse individuals who face systemic and financial barriers. We donate hundreds of free garments per month through this unique program.

Qualifications: In addition to running their production studio and community program, Rae is an award-winning educational speaker and business consultant. They've given workshops, business training and spoken on panels worldwide. They work in a multitude of spaces, from corporate trainings to universities, community spaces, healthcare centers, and more.

Rae was the recipient of the Inspiring Person Of The Year (Inspire Awards, 2025). Origami Customs has won the 2SLGBTQIA+ Business of the Year (CQCC, 2024), Community Impact of the Year (MMODE, 2023), and Sexual Wellness Award for Gender Diversity (SXWA, 2024 and 2025), Best Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiative award (BASA Awards, 2025), among many others.

Rae offers consultation and speaking arrangements worldwide on gender affirmation, ethical labour, and trans-integral business practices. Rae draws on their background in Sociology, experience in the fashion industry, and trans healthcare advocacy work over the past 16 years, as well as their personal experiences within the gender diverse community.
