Rachel Berners Acupuncturist & Coach

About

My name is Rachel Berners. I am a registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner, Acupuncturist, Grief support Facilitator and Archer, located in Melbourne, Australia.

For the last 24 years, I have been helping people navigate grief, loss, heart-break and various “life wobbles”.

When I was 6 years old, my Dad attempted suicide, which resulted in him being placed into an induced coma with extensive brain and spinal cord injuries. His injuries resulted in significant personality change and life-long physical and cognitive dis-ability. This early experience initiated within me a very strong drive to help people to transform and move forwards in life.

My formal training includes receiving Bachelor degrees in Human Biology and Chinese Medicine, from RMIT University. Human Biology broke the body down into parts. Chinese Medicine “wove” it back together as whole- and connected it to a much larger field of intelligence. I was lucky enough to intern for one academic year at the JiangSu Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine in 2002.

Over the last 24 years of practicing Acupuncture, I have studied with many inspiring teachers including Dr Mikio Sankey (founder of Esoteric Acupuncture), Dr Kerry Watson (Acupuncturist & Zen Buddhist) and Dr Yvonne Farrell (DAOM, Lac).

My unwavering interest in human transformation has led me to undertaking extensive training with Landmark Education, Dr Joe Dispenza and Dr John Demartini.

In 2022 I became a qualified Demartini Method Facilitator, with special interest in grief facilitation, which I incorporate into my clinical practice.

I am dedicated to providing support and stability to people navigating grief, loss and significant life change. Sometimes we get “knocked” by life and wobbled to our core. These experiences can either shut us down, or lead us to greater understanding about ourselves and our purpose for being here. We ultimately get to make that choice.

I am especially interested in how emotional “trauma” (eg shock/intense grief), gets stored in the body as various forms of stagnation, and how Acupuncture can harmonise the channel system and liberate this “stuck energy”, shifting a person out of “survival”(habituation) and back into the present moment.

I truly believe, that when a person is given the right information, at the right time, with the right support- transformation is always possible.

I feel honoured and privileged to do the work that I do.

I hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA).

As an out and proud queer person, I really enjoy supporting my fellow LGBTQIA family.

I also love Cats, and have a fluffy screamer of a Maine Coon called Laurence, who often accompanies me in the clinic.
