Biography

Oscar D. Donahue (they/he/any with respect) is a transmasc, non-binary emerging social work practitioner, disability support worker, and community broadcaster with lived experience of mental health and navigating support systems. They are based in Naarm/Melbourne. Drawing on years of frontline experience in queer, mental health, and peer-support spaces, Oscar brings a grounded, compassionate approach to storytelling, education, and community engagement.

Oscar hosts an established queer radio program amplifying LGBTQIA+ voices, politics, and lived experience. Their work across community radio, peer groups, and grassroots organisations centres connection, respect, and the diverse ways queer and trans people make meaning from their lives. Oscar also runs a small independent disability support practice, where they work alongside neurodivergent and trans clients with a focus on autonomy, communication, and trauma-informed care.

Currently completing a Master of Social Work, Oscar speaks from both lived and professional perspectives on gender diversity, mental health, neurodivergence, community care, and the everyday realities of navigating systems as a trans person. Their practice is shaped by a commitment to accessibility, intersectionality, and the belief that queer storytelling can shift culture, build solidarity, and foster safer, more connected communities. Outside of work, Oscar volunteers in several queer peer-led initiatives and co-facilitates book clubs and support spaces.

Oscar lives, works, and broadcasts on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, and pays respects to Elders past and present. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
