“Working with the Victorian Pride Centre and being part of the Speakers Bureau has been extremely rewarding. Getting to connect with groups of people all over this state to further pride, diversity and inclusivity with my voice and story is truly an honour I don’t take lightly.” – Aaron Kelly, 2025
Meet Aaron (he/him)
Born into evangelical Christianity, Aaron Kelly once believed being LGBTIQA+ was incompatible with faith. Pressured into conversion practices and marriage, he became a pastor, enforcing exclusionary policies he later came to question. A deep biblical study opened his eyes to the harm caused by these teachings. After a suicide attempt, he came out, losing his job, community, and church. At 36, he rebuilt his life, now serving in an executive leadership role for a national commercial facility services company. Aaron advocates for LGBTIQA+ rights, challenges conversion therapy, and works to create inclusive spaces within religious communities. His journey offers hope to those reconciling faith and identity.
