Our motto for 2021 (and In the words of Yazz’ 80’s gay anthem) the only way is up! After a much needed break for everyone, fitting out the Pride Centre continues. Since last month’s building update, the footpath on Fitzroy street frontage has now been reinstalled and work on the front entry continues, timber panelling on the ground floor spiral stair case and ‘Times Square’ style large steps has begun and continues on the mezzanine and level one. Cladding to interior walls and ceilings progresses as well as the floating ceiling panel installation throughout the Centre.
On the rooftop contractors have begun laying pavers, fitting the barriers and preparation for laying turf. East (back of the building) facade cladding continues as well as window glazing to west windows and internal timber window frame installation is under way. Grinding of ground floor polished concrete is now complete and hanging of internal doors has begun. The building team and contractors at Hansen Yuncken are working tirelessly to make up for lost time in 2020. The goal is to get to Practical Completion so we can begin moving our resident organisations and commercial tenants in to their new home and get them settled before opening our doors to the public.
