Happy International Lesbian Day from the Pride Centre!

A group of people holding the lesbian pride flag raise their firsts and smile at the camera.
This International Lesbian Day we are highlighting and celebrating the lesbians who have been fundamental to the design, construction, and opening of the Victorian Pride Centre, and continue to be at the heart of our purpose-build centre for LGBTIQ+ communities.

Through our work – from the events we program, to the public and bookable spaces we manage – the Pride Centre honours the legacy of the lesbian trailblazers that have always been at the forefront of Australia’s LGBTIQ+ social advocacy campaigns. Lesbians drove the early gay rights movement, took vital action during the HIV/AIDS epidemic, campaigned for Marriage Equality, and lesbian voices are currently advocating for a Voice to Parliament referendum.

Today, our CEO Justine Dalla Riva, along with lesbian-identifying staff, volunteers, and board members at the Pride Centre, build on that rich history to create inclusive, empowering spaces for all lesbians.

We are also home to a diverse range of resident organisations that continue the work of activists and community leaders, and support and amplify historically marginalised voices through their multi-faceted services and programs.

We could not operate without the incredible contributions of our dedicated and passionate lesbian volunteers, who staff our Concierge desk, sit on our Board and committees, assist with our events, and guide our tours.

We are proud to be a welcoming space for all lesbians to work, collaborate, celebrate and be themselves.
