Family Access Network (FAN)
About
Family Access Network has been providing services to young people since 1981 and is committed to responding to the diverse needs of homeless and at-risk young people and young families.
FAN’s Homeless Support Services (HSS) is a collection of specialist programs funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH). These programs aim to support young people aged from 15-25 years, who are experiencing or are at risk of homelessness. The program provides access to medium term transitional housing for young people and works to also address any other barriers young people may be facing. The HSS program supports a diverse client group which consists of single young people, LGBTIQA+ young people, young pregnant and young people, young families and accompanying children
The Homeless Support Services (HSS) program provides:
- Access to medium term transitional accommodation with support for young people who are experiencing/are at risk of homelessness. The accommodation available includes shared independent, shared lead tenant; shared and sole properties for young pregnant and parenting women, families and couples.
- Support to maintain housing and access to private rental, public and other housing options.
- Ongoing assistance and/or referral for support with issues such as: legal, abuse of alcohol and other drugs, counselling, mental health, domestic violence, budgeting/debt, employment/education, child-related needs, etc.
- FAN also provides a transitional accommodation response for LGBTIQA+ young people. This response offers both a shared lead tenant property and a shared independent property solely for young people who identify as part of the LGBTIQA+ community. All referrals for supported transitional accommodation are to be made via the Opening Doors Resource Register – except for those wanting to access LGBTIQA+ supported accommodation. Referrals for this can be made by the young person themselves or via a support worker by contacting a member of the HSS team directly.
We are a part of Family Access Network , who are registered as a: Charity.
