In an important next step towards the realisation of the Victorian Pride Centre, the City of Port Phillip is undertaking community consultation on Proposed Amendment C149 to facilitate the delivery of the Victorian Pride Centre in Fitzroy Street, St Kilda.
The Victorian Pride Centre Board has requested an amendment to the Port Phillip Planning Scheme which seeks to introduce a site-specific control into the Port Phillip Planning Scheme to facilitate the use and development of the Victorian Pride Centre. Details of the Proposed Amendment can be viewed on the City of Port Phillip’s ‘have your say‘ consultation page.
Community members are welcome to attend any of three drop-in information sessions and speak with Council officers and representatives from the Victorian Pride Centre about the Proposed Amendment.
The sessions provide an opportunity to learn more about the Victorian Pride Centre, hear from the architects and see in detail how this amazing space will be developed and operated.
This is also an opportunity for the LGBTIQ community to find out more and to make submissions.

As the author a book about St Kilda, A Place of Sensuous Resort, I strongly support the Victorian Pride Centre as a prominent public building and community facility in Fitzroy Street. It will activate the street and is an appropriate use for such a prominent location.
