Writing, reading & literature

Celebrate the launch of ‘Transgender Australia: A History since 1910’. The launch will feature Victorian trans activists, past and present.

Come celebrate the launch of the first book to showcase over a century of Australia’s trans history. Drawing on over 100 oral history interviews and extensive archival research, Noah Riseman’s book explores the changing social, legal, medical and living histories of trans people across all walks of Australian life. The launch is being co-sponsored by Transgender Victoria, the Australian Queer Archives and Transcend and will include short conversations with a few Victorian trans pioneers: Kayleen White, former co-convenor of Transgender Victoria, and longstanding activist, academic, performer and political candidate Dr Julie Peters. Copies of the book will be for sale courtesy of Hares & Hyenas.

This is a free event, but please RSVP for catering purposes.
