ChaCha Party will bring together queer individuals from Latin American and Hispanic backgrounds, the LGBTQIA+ community, and allies for a night of music, dance, and camaraderie.

The theme will pay tribute to all the cats from the Spanish hit ‘The Cat Under The Rain’ by Spanish singer Rocio Durcal, which has become a Latinx queer anthem. Bring your cat masquerade, costume, or your creative selves, and let’s meow together!

This will be a safe space for attendees to express their authentic selves and connect with others who share their heritage and friends from diverse backgrounds.

This event celebrates diversity, connection, and inclusion within the LGBTQIA+ community. ChaCha Party 2024 is funded by the Pride Events and Festivals Fund 2023/24, Victoria State Government, and is sponsored by Thorne Harbour Health, Living Positive Victoria, and BarBa Presents Productions.

1. NETWORKING EVENT – 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm
Join us from the beginning of the event and network with all our guests! LAHRC’s committee members and volunteers will make sure you feel welcome as we start the celebration. Coterra Dj (Chile) will connect us with the land through a mix of afro house music and Latin beats. Experience Andean winds, jungle music, cumbia, and drums. Nibbles will be served between 6:30 PM and 7:45 PM.

3. TRADITIONAL LATIN AMERICA – 7:45 pm to 8:30 pm
Embark on a journey with us through Latin America. Mundombe Tribe will bring joy and celebration with Afro-Latin rhythms and dances from Uruguay, Africa, Cuba, and Brazil. Lukas Enciso from Buena Onda: Dance & Fitness (Uruguay) will set the mood and continue the evening with a lively Latin dance workshop. Join Lukas and learn some new Latin moves! Inspired by the elegance of cats and their courtship rituals, Son de Mexico will showcase the dance of Yucatán and Jaliscan sones, featuring mariachi music and striking costumes! Experience the magic of Mexico at ChaCha Party Rooftop Edition.

4. THE LATIN DRAG HALFT-TIME SHOW – 8:30 pm to 9:00 pm
Inspired by the song ‘The Cat Under the Rain’ by Spanish singer Rocio Dúrcal, this show will be presented by our fabulous Latin drag queens.
Valencia (Spain) will be our host and perform at the Latin Drag Half-Time Show! Join Mari Conchita (Colombia) for a medley of Latin classics, and Lush BreeAndes (Ecuador) and Gaysell (Colombia) for a performance of ‘The Cat Under the Rain’ as we meow together on the rooftop.

5. LATIN PARTY – 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm
Get ready to dance the night away. Zalina DJ (Colombia) will bring the Latin party to life! And the folks from Arco Iris Queer Latin Party will bring the heat to the dance floor with a surprise performance.
