It’s time for the Australian public to learn the truth. Girt is not just a weird word in our national anthem – she is this country’s greatest swimming coach. And she’s letting a documentary crew into her wet ‘n’ wild world for the first time!

Nestled in the humble coastal town of Convict’s Lunge, the outrageous and dedicated Girt, her ever-supportive husband Birt and their anxious adult daughter Joy, run the legendary – and unorthodox – Girt by Sea swimming school. But when the local parent’s council threatens the school with closure, Girt goes to even weirder lengths than usual to save everything she’s worked for.

From blackmailing lawyers to stalking past students, free-styling past E-Coli outbreaks and diving over red tape, “Girt By Sea” is a mockumentary whirlwind championing family, community and the subtle art of an aqua aerobic dance routine.

This show features and has been devised by a majority queer and non-binary/gender-queer cast, crew and allies.

Written and produced by Jessica Budin (they/them)
Directed by Will Nash (he/him)

Starring Jessica Budin (Law Revue: Yee Ha Ha Ha), Jackson Vaughan (Jock, Harry Ball: More Than A Game), Silvi Vann-Wall (Avenue Q, Pill Pop) & Richard Mealey (My Failed Career, Bryan & Richard Have Sketch Appeal)
