An urban country walk in and near Bendigo.

GRADE | LENGTH | TYPE: Moderate 14.5 km point to point walk on some flat bitumen and concrete paths in Bendigo but gravel on the O’Keefe Rail Trail.

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: After meeting at Peppercorn Park, which is the former Longlea Railway Station site, we will car pool the 20 minute drive into Bendigo to Lake Weeroona where we will commence walking the long way around the lake. Joining the Bendigo Creek Trail for a short distance, we turn off onto the O’Keefe Rail Trail and pass the North Bendigo Railway Workshops site and stop for lunch at the Strathfieldsaye Railway Station site. After lunch, we walk the last 7 km to Longlea, crossing the 60 metre long Axe Creek Bridge just before we arrive. There are a couple of options for an after-walk drink.
