Nomads Outdoors Group – City to St Kilda walk

An easy walk along the Port Melbourne Light Rail line though little parks. a pub lunch, then along the beach to St Kilda with a possible swim along the way.
GRADE | LENGTH | TYPE: Easy 11 km point to point walk, flat, on bitumum, concrete and sand.
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: From Southern Cross, a short walk through Docklands, crossing Web Bridge over the Yarra River which was originally built for a railway line to Web Dock. Stop briefly at Polly Woodside, an 1885 barque built in Belfast. Then make our way past the South Melbourne Tram Depot where we will follow the Port Melbourne Light Rail line towards the bay. We will stop for a pub lunch at The Local, Port Melbourne. The rest of the afternoon is spent walking along the foreshore to St Kilda, perhaps a stop for an ice cream and/or a swim en route if it is warm enough. Afternoon tea, drinks can be had at Acland St before catching a tram home.
