hands in the frame working with clay (pottery)

Come and explore the hands-on fun of pottery and clay modelling! Maddy will guide you through an introduction to pottery basics, supporting you to make your own piece of pottery art from air-dry clay.
You might like to make an engraved dish, a little pinch pot, a serpentine candle holder, personalised wall art…if you can think it, you can probably make it. Or at least have good fun giving it a go.

This event will be half social chats with a bunch of like minded queer people and half fun, educational and interactive workshop.

All workshops are taught by queers, for queers.

What will we cover?
In this fun, hands-on workshop you will learn how to:

Condition our clay
Work with air-dry clay to make objects
Design and shape clay
Stamp, emboss, engrave into clay
Attaching pieces of clay correctly for strength

Who will be teaching?

Maddy (she/her) is a crafty hobbyist based in Naarm who has a big heart for colour and expression. She enjoys working with all sorts of materials and mediums, and repurposing everyday items into expressions of art and fashion. As a musician, these wonky and not-so-wonky creations often find their way onto stages around Melbourne.

Maddy enjoys carving and printing linocuts, paper collage, and combining the two. She also enjoys gardening, especially getting her hands dirty!
