Australia’s first purpose-built home for LGBTIQ+ communities is thrilled to announce the celebration of Pride Month with a plethora of events happening throughout the Victorian Pride Centre in June!
With a focus on celebration, creativity, and community engagement, this year’s lineup delivers a diverse array of events featuring workshops, film screenings, cabaret, comedy, exhibitions and more! Our program aims to foster social connections, ignite thought-provoking dialogues, and inspire active engagement through dynamic workshops and classes.
Come and be part of a month-long festivity embracing diversity, nurturing creativity, and strengthening community bonds! Join us on Saturday, June 1st as we kick off Pride Month with a vibrant launch party starting at 6:30 pm at the Victorian Pride Centre.
Highlights of the Pride Month 2024 program
Creative Workshops
Queer Social will be hosting four incredible workshops where social chats with like-minded queer individuals blend seamlessly with engaging, creative workshops. Led by Laneway Learning and facilitated by talented queer instructors, these workshops are designed to spark inspiration and foster self-expression.
The crew at Gay Life Drawing Melbourne return after their sensational sold-out event at Midsumma Festival. Adults can coming together to unleash their creativity, sip on drinks, and sketch live models—all in a warm and welcoming environment.
Film Screenings
Film enthusiasts can look forward to an exciting lineup of queer cinema! Melbourne Queer Film Festival, St Kilda Film Festival and Roger That Pictures are screening a fabulous collection of captivating queer films and shorts that will ignite your imagination and touch your heart. From powerful narratives to innovative storytelling, these screenings promise to showcase the diverse voices and experiences within LGBTIQ+ communities.
Live Performances
Trans jazz cabaret diva Mama Alto and friends return to the Pride Centre for a delectable evening that combines old fashioned show biz with contemporary queer glamour for a Pride celebration like no other.
Get ready for an entertaining evening with Thank God You’re Queer, as some of your favourite LGBTIQ+ comics take the stage and plunge headfirst into hilarious improvisation.
Classical music lovers can’t afford to miss ANAM does Pride where exceptional young musicians from the Australian National Academy of Music take the Pride Centre stage. The unique program includes a striking Brass Quintet composed by Joan Tower and a very beautiful and rarely performed Nonet by Louis Spohr in F major, Op. 31 (1813).
Community Connection
A special Sunday Sizzle, in collaboration with Sundaylicious – featuring the special launch of their new beverages! One of Melbourne’s longest running and most well-known queer events, Sundaylicious has delivered an energetic, diverse, and unique experience for over 15 years. Get ready for an afternoon of snags on the BBQ, DJs, drag performances, and more surprises!
