About

The Melbourne Smashers is a friendly LGBTIQ+ badminton club based at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) at Albert Park.

We are one of Melbourne’s largest LGBTIQ+ sporting clubs, and also one of Melbourne’s largest badminton clubs.

We welcome new players of all playing abilities and typically have 60 to 70 players at each session across 9 courts.

We play two days a week, on Thursday evenings (19:30 to 21:30) and Sunday afternoons (14:00 to 16:00).  We also hold club tournaments several times each year.

In addition to our regular badminton sessions, we also hold monthly social events ranging from lawn bowling to games nights to private cinema nights and wine tours. We pride ourselves on being open and welcoming to all, and this is reflected in our large membership and popular events.

If you would like to join us, it is important that you register as a guest on our website (guest places at each session are strictly limited). You can also send us a message via our Facebook page if you have any questions. A limited number of racquets are available for newcomers to borrow, and feather shuttlecocks are provided at all sessions.

Registration via our website is also required for all guests--members do not need to register to attend standard Thursday and Sunday sessions.
