PRIDE FOUNDATION AUSTRALIA

About

Pride Foundation Australia (PFA – formerly GALFA) is a national philanthropic foundation specifically focused on funding lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual and other (LGBTQIA+) community issues in Australia. PFA actively works to increase philanthropic support for the Australian LGBTQIA+ and allied communities through fundraising, grant giving, collaboration and commissioning projects. PFA adopts a social change model to our philanthropy and has a dedicated focus on advancing equity for the most disadvantaged LGBTQIA+ Australians, including advocating for systemic change. Specific LGBTQIA+ focus areas to date have been ageing, homelessness and disability; and a new focus area on asylum seekers and refugees is now current.

The Foundation offers: Small Grants (up to $750 per grant; awarded in three granting rounds a year); Grants in our current priority areas of LGBTIQA+ – Homlessness, Disability and Refugees & Asylum Seekers (Typically $10-$20k per grant; see https://pridefoundation.org.au/ for current grant rounds, or subscribe to our e-newsletter at https://pridefoundation.org.au/pages/contact-2/ and, we also commission projects in special areas.

Pride Foundation Australia is a voluntary organisation, not-for-profit, governed by a Board of Directors, consisting of eight members from our communities around Australia.

In addition to the Board, Pride Foundation Australia has a number of volunteer reference groups and committees to support best-practice in grant-making, fundraising and project management. This includes experts and those with lived experience in each of the priority focus areas.

The Australian Taxation Office has endorsed Pride Foundation Australia as a deductible gift recipient (DGR2), meaning gifts to the GALFA Public Fund (ABN: 82 567 458 934) are income-tax-deductible. Gifts to the GALFA Charitable Fund (ABN: 45 880 774 771) are not income-tax-deductible and allow for funding of a broader range of projects.  Both funds are registered with ACNC (Australian Charities and Not-for-Profit Commission) and are endorsed by the ATO (Australian Taxation Office) as a charity with income tax exemption (ITE).

We are a part of PRIDE FOUNDATION AUSTRALIA , who are registered as a: Charity.
