Who we are
The Australian Queer Archives (AQuA) collection is the largest repository of historical materials about LGBTIQ experience in Australia. Established in 1978, the Archives is a predominantly volunteer-run, community-based organisation.
The Archives’ Reading Room is located at the Victorian Pride Centre. Access is by appointment.
What we do
The Archives collects, preserves and celebrates lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, sistergirl and brotherboy history and experience in Australia.
The Archives’ collections are available for researchers, community organisations and the public. We also undertake a range of outreach education projects, including an annual conference, history walks, exhibitions, talks, publications, social media and more.
