We are incredibly excited to announce the 2024/25 Advisory Committee members for the Victorian Pride Centre’s inaugural Telling it with Pride Speakers Program (TiPS Program), selected from a diverse pool of experienced community leaders. These members will serve as the selection panel for the program, composed of individuals from the LGBTIQ+ community who are essential to the selection of the TiPS Program participants.
The TiPS Program empowers LGBTQ+ individuals to share their personal stories with confidence and impact, aiming to foster positive social change by enhancing understanding, empathy, and inclusion across Victoria. We received over 50 applications and are thrilled by the interest, which indicates that a program like this is much needed in the LGBTQ+ community right now. The program offers fortnightly workshops focusing on storytelling, self-care and community care, public speaking and presentation skills, and media and digital storytelling, culminating in a presentation at the Victorian Pride Centre as part of the Midsumma Festival 2025 and an online Speakers Directory. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks.
The Advisory Committee serves in a voluntary capacity, with their main task being to review applications and ensure that the process is equitable, inclusive, and aligned with the program’s mission of empowering individuals from diverse backgrounds. After reviewing the applications and acknowledging the unique contributions of each candidate, the committee makes final decisions on who will participate in the TiPS Program.
