Community & culture

inclusion and accessibility

Queerthentic trademark as the focus, framed by Victoria's Pride colours, with their own trademark displayed in the corners.

Macedon Ranges Accessible Arts Inc. (MRAAI) is presenting Queerthentic as part of the Midsumma Regional Activation Program – a partnership between the Victorian Government and Midsumma – with support from sponsors including Collective Possibilities and the Trentham branch of Bendigo Bank. Queerthentic will celebrate authentic stories from regional artists in the LGBTQIA+ community and hopes to exhibit between 50–100 artworks from artists living in or hailing from rural or regional Victoria.

Midsumma has acknowledged the benefit of rural and regional community activations by expanding their program this year to include events, exhibitions, anthologies and film projects celebrating the lived experience of LGBTQIA+ communities in rural and regional Victoria.

Founded in April of 2022, MRAAI is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run organisation dedicated to increasing art access for marginalised community members in the Macedon Ranges and throughout Central Victoria.

The exhibition will commence on 25th January, 2024 and will run until 12th of February.

A special exhibition opening and announcing of the winners will be on 3rd February from 2pm. There will be special performances from local LGTBQI+ groups . This will be a catered event.

If you are an artist and would like to enter the art prize, please visit https://www.mraai.org.au/ to find out how to enter.
