Melbourne International Comedy Festival at the Pride Centre

Two people in clown makeup drink tea in front of a picnic rug. The teapot seemingly comes from nowhere. The performers are in frog and fly costumes with a mix of business and cottagecore attire.

We are part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival for the first time this year!

It’s that time again – when Melbourne turns into a giant comedy club, packed with stand-up, sketch and theatre. This year, we are thrilled to announce that we will be a venue for the 2025 festival for the first time ever. As a venue host for MICF, we’re bringing our own slice of queer joy, comedy, and silliness to the festival scene.

One of the must-see shows at the Pride Centre is The Frog, back for its second season for three nights only! If you like your comedy with a side of whimsy and absurdity, this one’s for you.

The Frog follows a grumpy accountant, content in his misery – until he catches a juicy, delicious fly on the way home from work. In a bid to escape, the fly offers to help Frog search for a lost family heirloom, and the pair begrudgingly sets out on a surreal adventure, surprised by the friendship they find along the way.

With magical simplicity and unbound imagination, Big Dog Theatre will transport even the grumpiest of desk dwellers to every corner of this whimsical world. A reflection on life, loneliness, and the absurdity of work and purpose, inviting the audience to reflect on the peculiarities of existence and the unexpected bonds that emerge amidst life’s comedic chaos.

Described by Praise Dionysus as, Peak Theatre, brilliant Theatre… Camp and whimsical and sweet.” – Grab your friends, book your tickets, and get ready for a night of comedy!
