As we persevere working from home, construction continues at the Pride Centre. The building facade is looking rather impressive, but inside the building there’s lots of progress that can’t be seen from Fitzroy Street! Portico piles have been installed and capping beams started. Wall sheeting to ammenities continues and the building is looking almost ready for moving in with level one internal door and window frames currently being installed.
The interior detailing has begun with the ground floor curved ceilings and multi purpose function room commencing. The feature “egg shell” installation through the centre atrium of the building is really coming together and the beginnings of ground floor seating booths are now visible. A big thank you to those who have purchased these from our Pride Registry, we still have 2 booths needing funded and many other items essential in opening the doors.
Aluminium window sheeting as well as wet lining on the external facade is now visible and rather striking. Our famous flag pole, generously funded by community members (see news item above) is in production and the curvaceous roof vaults on the rooftop are under way. A huge thanks to those donors for making our essential community flags a reality, creating a beacon of hope, proudly flying in the Melbourne skyline.
If you’re a St Kilda local, pop by next time you’re out for a walk.
