Pride Centre joins GiveOUT Day with Supporting Rainbow Families

GiveOUT Day Au is a national day of giving to LGBTIQ+ communities. It offers LGBTIQ+ projects and community groups a platform to promote and gain support for their projects, building awareness across the country of the need to get behind LGBTIQ+ communities.

How it works – GiveOUT Day is on Friday, 16 October. The online platform promotes LGBTIQ+ projects seeking community support and welcomes donations from the community. Up to $1000 of a donation to any project is matched dollar for dollar by GiveOUT.

The Victorian Pride Centre is seeking community support for Rainbow Families to feel right at home at the Pride Centre. Rainbow families are a growing part of our LGBTIQ community in Australia. Approximately 33% of lesbians and 11% of gay men are included amongst LGBTIQ people who have children and the numbers of Rainbow Families are expected to grow.

Our campaign is to fit out a lounge/activity space at the Pride Centre so that it’s enticing and suitable for young people and families. We are seeking support to provide furniture and bookshelves for housing a Toy and Teen Library at a total cost of $10,000.

Join the GiveOUT Day live broadcasts – hosted by Ambassadors Dolly Diamond and Simon Dunn – on the GiveOUT Facebook page at 1pm and 7pm on Friday 16 October. Each broadcast will showcase a selection of projects and community groups that are participating in GiveOUT Day 2020, including the Pride Centre which is joining the 7pm stream.
